MAKE THIS YOUR YEAR

So I've given you the scoop, told you about the prizes, given you words of wisdom, and told you I don't want to hear excuses. So what's left to say?

A little over a year ago I signed my first contract. It was the validation I had been working for over twenty years and it was an emotional moment for me. The title of the book was Another Way To Die and I wrote it for MayNoWriMo as a part of Coyote Con in 2010.

I sat on it for a year. Then my best friend's dad went into the hospital for transplant surgery. As his condition worsened I had something of a wake up call. I told myself if I was ever going to make it as a writer I was going to have to submit. So I submitted Another Way To Die and two screenplays. Nothing of the screenplays ever came to fruition, but Another Way To Die was offered a revise and resubmit by Lyrical Press. My friend Pamela Turner (an excellent author by the way, you should checkout her title Death Sword) pointed me in the direction of DigiCon and that's how I met the MuseItUp family.

Anyway, point is, I wouldn't have had a manuscript to submit if I hadn't written one in the first place. And for those of you looking for a little kick in the pants, well then, I'm here to help you too.

Last year I signed three contracts and won two awards. That was a very nice year. I made it my year. Well, I'm trying to make this my year too. Why not make write that book and make it yours as well.
